Forks Day 3

Saturday, the official Stephenie Meyer Day in Forks. The day that Bella was born (September 13th). It started out not as early as the days before (thankfully). Everyone slept in after the wild night we all had.

When everyone was up and ready to go, we headed into town. I rode with Meg, Rae, and Amy again. And joining us were Erica and Kathy. We decided we wanted to start out the day by doing a little shopping downtown. We started the adventure by stopping at the library. They were serving vampire punch for everyone. I got my book stamped with an official Forks Library stamp. Very cool. We visited with the lovely librarians for a few minutes and then headed further down the road.

Could that be Chief Swan's vehicle?

We had birthday cake in one of the clothing stores. They had some cute things, but nothing that captured my interest. I did find a few things in some of the other stores.

After checking out the downtown stores, we walked to the park where the mayor was giving her speech for Stephenie's Day. We didn't make it in time for the speech, but we did get to meet the mayor and got pictures with her. The elders (missionaries for the LDS church) were there too, so we got a picture with them as well.

There were a ton of people there. One of the city council members said that for SM Day this year there were about 500-1000 people. Wow!

A lot of people had boothes at the park, and were selling Twilight merchandise that they had made. A lot of cute jewelry, key chains, t-shirts, and other things. I bought an adorable top, and digital scrapbooking elements that are Twilight inspired. I was very happy to find that. When I was trying to make my scrapbook page for the trip, I looked high and low on the internet for anything remotely Twilighty. I was unsuccessful in my search. So finding this in Forks made my day.

We didn't stay at the park too long. We were planning on coming back a little later for group pictures, and we had to catch the tour of the high school before it started.

The tour was fun. The high school girls that showed us around were very cute.

They took us on Bella's actual schedule. We checked out the office, went to Mr. Mason's English class and actually met him (not really him, of course, but it was still fun to pretend). He really got into it too, talked about Bella and where she sat in class, and that she always seemed be late and not pay attention in class. lol

We were all such good students. :D

The rest of the classrooms didn't have any teachers, but there were still signs on the doors telling us whose classroom it was. We checked out her math classroom, of course the biology room, the cafeteria (which had papers that indicated where The Cullens, and everyone else sat), the gym, Bella's locker, and the parking lot.

Edward's coat smelled really good!

It really was a neat experience.

After the tour we headed back to the park. It was time for a big group picture of all the Twilighters that came for the occasion.

"Chief Swan" (He's really the police chief and got a kick out of pretending to be Charlie)

Some reporters from Seattle, and other newspapers were there to take pictures of the event. We all surrounded Bella's truck that they had parked there in the park for the day. It was actually very hot with our black shirts on in the sun (boo, sun!), waiting for everyone to get there for pictures.

The mayor actually made a funny comment about the weather we were experiencing. She said that they should've made shirts for everyone that read, "I got sunburned in Forks!". Finally though we were able to most Twilighters there and got a big group picture.

And then they just got a picture of the 150+ Twilight Moms that came to Forks. Then after that just our specific group of 27 got a picture together around Bella's truck.

Just our group

By the time all the picture taking was over with, we were hot, famished, and cranky. It was definitely time for some rest and food. We went to a little burger joint on called Sully's burgers. I ordered the "Bella burger" special, fries and with Twilight punch. And since I ordered the punch I received a complimentary vampire teeth for my wearing pleasure. ;p

The food was really good. I liked the burger a lot. It had BBQ sauce, swiss cheese and pineapple on it. The drink was tasty too. It was lemonade with strawberries in it, like freckled lemonade at Red Robin.

After lunch we decided we need to go back to our cabins to changed. Everyone in our group was going to check out the tide pools in La Push. Our car got back to the cabin, and we actually never ended up leaving to go to the tide pools. We were too busy visiting and relaxing. That was nice though, getting to know everyone better. They were all such amazing and fun girls. :)

We left the cabin after a couple hours, to head back to First Beach. That night they were having a bonfire, and some of the Elders from the Quileute tribe were going to perform a short dance for us and tell us actual legends from their tribal history.

We arrived a little early, and it got a bit chilly and foggy there at the beach so we decided to do a little shopping at the gift shop. They had a bunch of really cool native american artwork sweat shirts. I wanted one, but decided against it. I've never been much of a sweatshirt wearer, so it would've been a waste. But the other girls looked very adorable in their new sweats. I did buy a tie pin for Dan and a couple knick knacks for the kids.

After the shopping we headed back down to the beach. It was cold! I was so glad i had brought my down coat. Everyone bundled up in their new sweats, then we walked to the beach. Some army guys were hauling big logs down to the area where the Quileute elders were going to tell their stories, for everyone to sit on. I thought that was nice of them.

So we grabbed a log to sit on, and then waited for the story telling to start. A lot of the other girls from our group showed up while we waited. The ones that went to the tide pools and 2nd Beach, said the scenery there was amazing. Chelle shared some of the pictures she took, with me and told me how beautiful it was there.

The Quileute Chief finally had everyone ready and the storytelling began. It was really neat to hear some of the real legends of the tribe. They actually do have legends about wolves. So I thought that was cool. It did end up being long and it was freezing once the sun went down. So we left at around the last story.

We went to hang out with Group 2, another group of Twilight Moms, at the lodge they were staying at. We played a small game there with them. And then Dana and Jazz, from their group performed a rendition of Ice Ice Baby, that was completely, roll on the floor, hilarious. They changed the lyrics to go along with the storyline of Breaking Dawn. You can find the video on photobucket, but a word of warning the song is full of spoilers, so if you haven't read Breaking Dawn you probably shouldn't watch it.

We hung out at the lodge with Group 2 for a while. Then it was back to our own cabins for the night. We had a campfire out on the deck and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows, and chatted for a bit. Then it was getting late, and I was ready to get to our own cabin, so Laurie and I walked back.

That night the girls in our cabin and I stayed up pretty late. We watched the Satruday Night Live skit with Tom Hanks, that inspired the whole "Hotties in a Jar" & "Brocktoon" thing on TMs. This was the first time I had seen it. I've heard about it, but never had the chance to watch the skit. It was so funny.

After that we were all ready to turn in for the night. Unfortunately the next day was our day to leave, and some of the girls had to be up really early to catch their planes.

It was another fun and eventful day.
