Still Waiting

No new info on our house hunting. Someone has beaten us to five houses so far, and we are still waiting to hear from three. But we did get some promising news, that one of our offers got accepted by the home owners. So now it is going to the bank to see if they accept the offer. Plus we just saw a new house today that we're putting an offer on. It's a really nice one, so we're crossing our fingers.

In happier news, Dan and I are off to San Francisco to celebrate our 9 year anniversary (our real anniversary date is the 26th). The kids are going to stay at grandma and grandpa's house, while we are gone.

And conveniently enough, there is a Twilight convention happening this very weekend while we are there. ;p lol

I am a nice wife though, and not subjecting Dan to all three days of Twilighty goodness. But we are going to the Vampire Ball that they are having on Saturday night. Dancing and Twilight all in one, I'm so excited!

Sierra's Birthday

Sierra celebrated her 6th birthday on January 8th. We had a little birthday party for her.

Sierra with her friend Jackson

The kids ate pizza or dino nuggets for lunch.

Played musical chairs, duck duck goose, and hot potato.

Ate yummy ice cream cake, and opened Sierra's presents.

Then they ran around and played with the new toys until the party was over.

Sierra had a fun time. Happy birthday to our sweet baby girl.

Renting Books

I just found a website, while searching for a certain book that is out of print at the moment.

It is like Netflix, but for books. No late fees, keep the books as long as you want, and the website also gives you the option to buy the books if you absolutely love them after reading them.

http://www.bookswim.com/

What an ingenious idea! Our library here stinks. And I am tired of buying books that I end up not liking enough to keep. So this is perfect!

I am definitely going to sign up.

Also there is this book rental site as well.

http://www.booksfree.com/

The plans at booksfree.com are a little cheaper than bookswim.com, but they only have paperback books. Which means you can't get newly released books until a year or more after they've been out in hardback. So I'll be going with bookswim.

Anyway, I know a lot of you might be interested in these websites, so I thought I'd share. :)

Quelf

Don't know what a Quelf is? Well I'm here to tell you. Quelf is a board game. A hilarious, party game. If you like to have fun and be silly, this is the game for you.

We played it with Dan's family over Christmas. Here are some highlights...

Adam displaying his skills in the mask department, while having to sing 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall.

Lindsay acting out.

Erin reading us a poem she created, on dental floss and the highlights of good hygiene.

Dan, as a door to door vacuum salesman, trying to get us to believe that the pencil he has in his hand is the best vacuum on the market.

Some of the other fun adventures we had were...

~Laurie and I slow dancing together at the "prom"

~Playing tag with the cards

~My having to say, "And so the master has spoken", after every time I talk

~Everyone trying to name as many mythical creatures as possible

~All of us yelling "cheesy cheese biscuits" whenever someone rolled a three

And many, many other ridiculously silly things.

This game is made of awesome.

Disclaimer: This game isn't for the faint of heart, ie: those that are party poopers. lol

So go out and get it!

Stress, Gotta Love It

So I've been totally a slacker in regards to the blog this month. But I have a good reason (yeah right, there is always a "good" reason). Among other reasons, the biggie here is we are frantically trying to find a house to buy, before we have to move out of the home we are living in now.

We are living in a rental, and it is in the process of going through escrow. Although we've been assured that Short Sale homes take at least 3 months to close. Despite the reassurance, we are trying to be as quick as possible in finding a new home.

We decided to go ahead and buy, since the market is so good right now. I thought it would be fun. But no, don't believe it, it's a lie. It has not been fun, now that we are seriously down to the process of trying to buy. At least not with the "getting kicked out and living on the streets", looming over our heads.

We've tried to put an offer on two different homes, but someone beat us to each of them. And now we've found another one that we totally love, and that would be such a great investment. But it is in a different ward (sorry 3rd warders, I know y'all are crying your eyes out, as I type those dreaded words ;p ).

Dan and I really wanted to try to stay in our current ward, because it is fabulous and fantastic to the extreme. But it is looking like it might not happen. So we will see what happens. I'm just feeling very stressed and discouraged all around lately about the home situation and other stuff.

Anyway that is what is going on for us right now. I will try to post more exciting and happy things when I am feeling better, and have more time.

Things to come... Sierra's Bday, and a little thing called Quelf. Until then, TTFN!
