Forks Day 3

Saturday, the official Stephenie Meyer Day in Forks. The day that Bella was born (September 13th). It started out not as early as the days before (thankfully). Everyone slept in after the wild night we all had.

When everyone was up and ready to go, we headed into town. I rode with Meg, Rae, and Amy again. And joining us were Erica and Kathy. We decided we wanted to start out the day by doing a little shopping downtown. We started the adventure by stopping at the library. They were serving vampire punch for everyone. I got my book stamped with an official Forks Library stamp. Very cool. We visited with the lovely librarians for a few minutes and then headed further down the road.

Could that be Chief Swan's vehicle?

We had birthday cake in one of the clothing stores. They had some cute things, but nothing that captured my interest. I did find a few things in some of the other stores.

After checking out the downtown stores, we walked to the park where the mayor was giving her speech for Stephenie's Day. We didn't make it in time for the speech, but we did get to meet the mayor and got pictures with her. The elders (missionaries for the LDS church) were there too, so we got a picture with them as well.

The mayor honoring us with a picture. With L-R: Lisa, Rae, Meg, and I.

There were a ton of people there. One of the city council members said that for SM Day this year there were about 500-1000 people. Wow!

A lot of people had boothes at the park, and were selling Twilight merchandise that they had made. A lot of cute jewelry, key chains, t-shirts, and other things. I bought an adorable top, and digital scrapbooking elements that are Twilight inspired. I was very happy to find that. When I was trying to make my scrapbook page for the trip, I looked high and low on the internet for anything remotely Twilighty. I was unsuccessful in my search. So finding this in Forks made my day.

We didn't stay at the park too long. We were planning on coming back a little later for group pictures, and we had to catch the tour of the high school before it started.

The tour was fun. The high school girls that showed us around were very cute.

One of our tour guides

They took us on Bella's actual schedule. We checked out the office, went to Mr. Mason's English class and actually met him (not really him, of course, but it was still fun to pretend). He really got into it too, talked about Bella and where she sat in class, and that she always seemed be late and not pay attention in class. lol

We were all such good students. :D

The rest of the classrooms didn't have any teachers, but there were still signs on the doors telling us whose classroom it was. We checked out her math classroom, of course the biology room, the cafeteria (which had papers that indicated where The Cullens, and everyone else sat), the gym, Bella's locker, and the parking lot.

Edward's coat smelled really good!

It really was a neat experience.

After the tour we headed back to the park. It was time for a big group picture of all the Twilighters that came for the occasion.

"Chief Swan" (He's really the police chief and got a kick out of pretending to be Charlie)

Some reporters from Seattle, and other newspapers were there to take pictures of the event. We all surrounded Bella's truck that they had parked there in the park for the day. It was actually very hot with our black shirts on in the sun (boo, sun!), waiting for everyone to get there for pictures.

The mayor actually made a funny comment about the weather we were experiencing. She said that they should've made shirts for everyone that read, "I got sunburned in Forks!". Finally though we were able to most Twilighters there and got a big group picture.

And then they just got a picture of the 150+ Twilight Moms that came to Forks. Then after that just our specific group of 27 got a picture together around Bella's truck.

All the Twilight Moms

Just our group

By the time all the picture taking was over with, we were hot, famished, and cranky. It was definitely time for some rest and food. We went to a little burger joint on called Sully's burgers. I ordered the "Bella burger" special, fries and with Twilight punch. And since I ordered the punch I received a complimentary vampire teeth for my wearing pleasure. ;p

The food was really good. I liked the burger a lot. It had BBQ sauce, swiss cheese and pineapple on it. The drink was tasty too. It was lemonade with strawberries in it, like freckled lemonade at Red Robin.

After lunch we decided we need to go back to our cabins to changed. Everyone in our group was going to check out the tide pools in La Push. Our car got back to the cabin, and we actually never ended up leaving to go to the tide pools. We were too busy visiting and relaxing. That was nice though, getting to know everyone better. They were all such amazing and fun girls. :)

We left the cabin after a couple hours, to head back to First Beach. That night they were having a bonfire, and some of the Elders from the Quileute tribe were going to perform a short dance for us and tell us actual legends from their tribal history.

We arrived a little early, and it got a bit chilly and foggy there at the beach so we decided to do a little shopping at the gift shop. They had a bunch of really cool native american artwork sweat shirts. I wanted one, but decided against it. I've never been much of a sweatshirt wearer, so it would've been a waste. But the other girls looked very adorable in their new sweats. I did buy a tie pin for Dan and a couple knick knacks for the kids.

After the shopping we headed back down to the beach. It was cold! I was so glad i had brought my down coat. Everyone bundled up in their new sweats, then we walked to the beach. Some army guys were hauling big logs down to the area where the Quileute elders were going to tell their stories, for everyone to sit on. I thought that was nice of them.

So we grabbed a log to sit on, and then waited for the story telling to start. A lot of the other girls from our group showed up while we waited. The ones that went to the tide pools and 2nd Beach, said the scenery there was amazing. Chelle shared some of the pictures she took, with me and told me how beautiful it was there.

The Quileute Chief finally had everyone ready and the storytelling began. It was really neat to hear some of the real legends of the tribe. They actually do have legends about wolves. So I thought that was cool. It did end up being long and it was freezing once the sun went down. So we left at around the last story.

We went to hang out with Group 2, another group of Twilight Moms, at the lodge they were staying at. We played a small game there with them. And then Dana and Jazz, from their group performed a rendition of Ice Ice Baby, that was completely, roll on the floor, hilarious. They changed the lyrics to go along with the storyline of Breaking Dawn. You can find the video on photobucket, but a word of warning the song is full of spoilers, so if you haven't read Breaking Dawn you probably shouldn't watch it.

We hung out at the lodge with Group 2 for a while. Then it was back to our own cabins for the night. We had a campfire out on the deck and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows, and chatted for a bit. Then it was getting late, and I was ready to get to our own cabin, so Laurie and I walked back.

That night the girls in our cabin and I stayed up pretty late. We watched the Satruday Night Live skit with Tom Hanks, that inspired the whole "Hotties in a Jar" & "Brocktoon" thing on TMs. This was the first time I had seen it. I've heard about it, but never had the chance to watch the skit. It was so funny.

After that we were all ready to turn in for the night. Unfortunately the next day was our day to leave, and some of the girls had to be up really early to catch their planes.

It was another fun and eventful day.

Forks Day 2

On Friday we woke up bright and early (Not my idea, at all. I am as far from a morning person as you can get!). We had to get ready to meet Carey and Aimee, who were in our group, but staying at their own hotel. I rode with Meg, Rae, AmyO, and then Carey & Aimee joined our car once we met up with them at the cafe in Forks.

That morning we woke up to real Forks weather. It was overcast and drizzling. It was awesome! And actually that was our only real experience with normal Forks weather. The rest of our trip and that afternoon even, it was sunny! Not at all what we wanted or was expecting. But that's okay, we at least got that small amount of bad weather. It's funny, on most people's vacations, they want sunshine. But for us it was the exact opposite. LOL

Meg and I

We decorated our car while we waited (this is a shot of our lovely artwork, when we were at the beach)

This one was for Rae. Being the Jacob lover that she is (She's so misled *hee hee*)

All of us drove to the HOH (pronounced ho) Rain Forest after meeting up at the cafe. This place was gorgeous. Exactly as described in the books. Green, dense trees, covered in moss.

Even the phone boothes grow moss

We took a hike on one of the trails. Got in tune with nature, and vampire nature. ;) And just enjoyed the beauties that surrounded us.

Yoga Amy doing what else?!...yoga :)

I hiked for the most part with Rae, and Chelle. We got a bit goofy on the trail. Pretending to be Cullen's, and even talking to squirrels.

L-R: myself, Chelle, and Rae

Yes, we were complete and utter dorks! ;p

We decided to have a snack before lunch LOL

When we were out of the forest, we waited and sun bathed (the sun was already out by that afternoon), for the rest of our party. We visited, and ate Cheetos while everyone else was wandering in to join us.

All 27 of us

After our frolic in the woods, we drove to La Push, to have a picnic on First Beach! :) The beach was amazing! Gorgeous beyond imagination. You can totally picture Bella and Jacob walking along the beach together.

The cafe we stopped at that morning, made all of us sack lunches for our picnic. I got a turkey sandwich, chips, an apple, candybar, and a brownie.

A cute picture of some of the girls, sporting our fun rainboots, that we bought for the trip

Look, Jacob really was here!!

When the girls in my car, and I were finished eating, we hurried off to go to the Forks Outfitters and Thriftway. They had some Twilight merchandise there that we wanted to possibly buy, before the mad rush happened on Saturday and perhaps not being able to get what we really liked.

At the stores, we all found cute stuff. I bought a beanie cap that reads, "Love at first bite. Forks, Washington". And a shirt that looks like the "Survivor" logo, and reads, "What happens in Forks, Stays in Forks". With the words, "Road Trip", through the middle of the circle and a cute bat silhouette over the words.

Modeling my new beanie

After the Thriftway we went to a couple other stores. We checked out the flower shop, which had a ton of unique Twilight merchandise. Some cute tops and bracelets, book marks, magnets, scrapbooking papers and supplies. I got a couple cute magnets for the fridge. One that reads, "Forks, Wa. Where Vampires Rain", and it has raindrops coming down with a big red one in the middle. And the other one looks like a usp code and has a heart in the middle. At the bottom are the numbers 11 21 98331 08 (the date the movie comes out, with the Forks zip code in the middle) and then I LOVE EDWARD.

The florist's window. Lots of fun stuff there, including a pair of Jacob's shredded shoes

We left all the rest of the stores for the next days excursions. And headed back to our cabin to just relax and chat until dinner time.

For dinner we ordered pizza from a local pizza joint. And I have to say I was impressed, the pizza was really tasty. That night was our Ya Ya headdress and gift exchange night. We all piled into Cabin 1's living room for the festivities.

I enjoyed listening to everyone's explanations on why they made the headdresses, scrapbook pages, and gift that they gave to everyone else in the group. The gifts were great. I enjoyed all of them. Everyone seemed to really like my playlist gift I gave them. I was pleasantly surprised that it went over so well with everyone. :)

Jessica as cute as ever, in her sunflowers

We also made a pile of presents and scrapbook pages to send to Stephenie Meyer herself. A couple of the girls in our group know her personally (lucky girls). So I know for sure that she will get the gifts. It's kind of cool knowing that she will be looking at something I made!

Rhonda sharing her scrapbook page

After all the fun, Meg and I decided to head back to our cabin. We were both exhausted. I only got a couple hours sleep the past two nights, so I was ready to turn in. And Rae, being the sweetie she is (you know you are Rae), let me have her bed spot that night, so I wouldn't be kept up by everyone else in the cabin (Jessica and I had the sleeper sofa bed in the living room).

Meg and I actually ended up chatting a little bit longer than we intended to that night in bed, but I still got more sleep than the last couple nights combined.

It was a very good day!

*Just wanted to give credit where credit is due, to all the lovely TMs that shared pictures with me. They are responsible for many of the pictures I have posted and will add in my future trip posts. Especially the scenery shots. So thank you girls, with your awesome camera taking abilities. Because my camera sucks! LOL*
