Quelf

Don't know what a Quelf is? Well I'm here to tell you. Quelf is a board game. A hilarious, party game. If you like to have fun and be silly, this is the game for you.

We played it with Dan's family over Christmas. Here are some highlights...

Adam displaying his skills in the mask department, while having to sing 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall.

Lindsay acting out.

Erin reading us a poem she created, on dental floss and the highlights of good hygiene.

Dan, as a door to door vacuum salesman, trying to get us to believe that the pencil he has in his hand is the best vacuum on the market.

Some of the other fun adventures we had were...

~Laurie and I slow dancing together at the "prom"

~Playing tag with the cards

~My having to say, "And so the master has spoken", after every time I talk

~Everyone trying to name as many mythical creatures as possible

~All of us yelling "cheesy cheese biscuits" whenever someone rolled a three

And many, many other ridiculously silly things.

This game is made of awesome.

Disclaimer: This game isn't for the faint of heart, ie: those that are party poopers. lol

So go out and get it!

Stress, Gotta Love It

So I've been totally a slacker in regards to the blog this month. But I have a good reason (yeah right, there is always a "good" reason). Among other reasons, the biggie here is we are frantically trying to find a house to buy, before we have to move out of the home we are living in now.

We are living in a rental, and it is in the process of going through escrow. Although we've been assured that Short Sale homes take at least 3 months to close. Despite the reassurance, we are trying to be as quick as possible in finding a new home.

We decided to go ahead and buy, since the market is so good right now. I thought it would be fun. But no, don't believe it, it's a lie. It has not been fun, now that we are seriously down to the process of trying to buy. At least not with the "getting kicked out and living on the streets", looming over our heads.

We've tried to put an offer on two different homes, but someone beat us to each of them. And now we've found another one that we totally love, and that would be such a great investment. But it is in a different ward (sorry 3rd warders, I know y'all are crying your eyes out, as I type those dreaded words ;p ).

Dan and I really wanted to try to stay in our current ward, because it is fabulous and fantastic to the extreme. But it is looking like it might not happen. So we will see what happens. I'm just feeling very stressed and discouraged all around lately about the home situation and other stuff.

Anyway that is what is going on for us right now. I will try to post more exciting and happy things when I am feeling better, and have more time.

Things to come... Sierra's Bday, and a little thing called Quelf. Until then, TTFN!

Sing Us a Song

Sierra sang some Christmas songs for the family, on Christmas night. At school, she and Dallin learned the songs, complete with hand gestures.

Here is a little video of her singing (Dallin was too shy to sing for everyone, until after the songs were over).

Christmas Day

We were home for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. Dan got home from work at about 7:30 AM, and we were ready to open presents an hour later.

Look at all the goodies from St. Nick!

The Christmas Sheet; a tradition started when my brother and I were kids

Santa ate all the cookies, and left a note for us

The kids were super excited to see what Santa Claus left for them.

After present opening we had a relaxing morning, while Dan caught up on his beauty sleep. Then we packed up to leave for Dan's sister Laurie's home.

Doing the happy dance

Dan is super happy to get this Christmas tie from his parents (the nose on the reindeer even lights up, lol)

Uncle Ian enjoying the morning

We got to Laurie's home that evening. And spent Christmas dinner and night with Dan's family.

Mom and Uncle Adam

Excited to get even more presents, from Auntie Erin and Laurie

Dad, Auntie Lindsay, and Dan

Laurie, with her sweet baby girl

The next day Laurie was going through the temple, for her first time. So we were there to support her.

Christmas Visiting

The week before Christmas we went to Chico to visit our family. We had an early Christmas with my mom, grandpa, and brother.

We got some lovely, and thoughtful gifts.

We had a tasty dinner made by my mother, went to the movies together (yes, I saw Twilight for the *cough* 7th *cough* time), caught up with some old friends, and had an all around relaxing time. We were glad we were able to go.

Checker time with Daddy

Sierra loves her new skates from Grandma

Oh and I have to say, eating at some of our favorite restaurants were also highlights of our trip. Burger Hut, Turandots, and Hula's (Heidi, are you jealous? *hee hee* ;p )! It was soooooooo good.

I thought this was pretty spot on for me. Dedicated Reader, check. And I admit I am a total Book Snob/Obsessive bookworm. I think I've mentioned in the past how hard it is for me to read new books (much rather read all my old favorites over and over again). But I am trying to come out of my OCD snobby shell and expand my book horizons. After getting poked and prodded for so long from certain *ahem* friends to do it, I took the plunge and joined GoodReads.com. Go me! ;D
